Liam and Corey, my podcasting colleagues at the Irish Fireside Podcast, have embarked on a one-month road trip from Milwaukee, WI to Los Angeles, CA in search of all things Irish-American along the way.

The Irish Fireside’s Irish-American Road Trip

I think this is a fantastic idea and an amazing trip, especially because quite a lot of the details have been left in the hands of the show’s fans, things like what the name of the van would be (Fiona) to where Liam and Corey would stop along the way. This creates an instant sense of ownership with the audience; they are part of the trip in spirit, if not physically. Aside from the great content they are generating for their website and podcast, they are creating friends who will have an actual stake in their endeavors from now on.

As I write this, they are already on the second day of their trip, having pulled close to an all-nighter at Kieran’s, an Irish Pub in Minnesotta, MN.
